VLP and California

 The history of VLP in California started many years ago in Sotogrande, with Anna van Loon as a yound child and daughter of Ad van Loon, founder and managing director of VLP.

Anna van Loon, real estate agent and loan officer in California, grew up in Sotogrande and during her child and teenage years had the opportunity to experience and enjoy Sotogrande’s spacious infrastructure, so similar to that of American top resorts.

This American styled environment was one of the decisive elements that led her to pursue her university degree in the United States and to eventually establish herself in a similar environment in Northern California.

From here, Anna is leading VLP’s activities mainly towards those areas that evoke a likeness to Sotogrande and its surroundings, such as the many resorts in the county of Monterey, a county very similar to Spain’s Costa del Sol and with almost as many Spanish names.

A prime example of course is Pebble Beach, the world-renowned golf course in Monterey, so reminiscent of Sotogrande’s exclusive Valderrama golf course.

But many other areas such as Carmel, Marin County, San Francisco and Napa Valley have drawn the attention of VLP.

…How about the area around Lake Tahoe, bordering the state of Nevada and with the “Sierra Nevada” mountains.

Lake Tahoe is one of the biggest lakes in the world and the climate is very similar to that of the Spanish Sierra Nevada, the ski resort that peeks above the famous Spanish and ancient Moorish city of Granada, just 3.5 hours by car from Sotogande

The Lake Tahoe area, once named “Sierra Nevada” by the Spaniards, not only has multiple skiing and snowboarding resorts during the winter and the opportunity for water activities and hiking during the summer, it is also becoming more and more popular thanks to the increasing amount of high-end golf courses that help create an even more spectacular landscape.
